Executive Director, Carrie Shahbahrami, founded A Special Place in response to circumstances she encountered while serving as provider of psychiatric services within the local correctional setting. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner with years of experience addressing the mental health needs within Mesa County, she provided on-site medical and mental health care for competency patients and experienced first-hand the issues addressing this vulnerable population. Her goal is to proactively address the needs of A Special Place clients in innovative with evidence-based practice. Carrie serves as a board member of A Special Place Corporation.
Our Director, Brittany Craig, serves as chief of operations for A Special Place. With years of experience as head of operations for outpatient psychiatric clinics and assisted living facilities, she has led innovation in growth and the patient care experience. Her past roles has closely aligned with A Special Place's Mission Statement and focus on the mental health within Mesa County. Brittany is a board member of A Special Place Corporation.
Our Clinical Director, Meghan Williams, serves as program development for clinical operations. With strong roots in collaboration within the mental and physical health of organizations within Mesa County, she has successfully led other initiatives to best meet the needs of clients. Her goals include reducing gaps in care for the most vulnerable among our population. Meghan is a board member of A Special Place Corporation.
Our Director, Heather Stanford, RN, serves as lead registered nurse with clinical oversight of patient care. With over 15 years of experience in serving the mental health and physical health of the Grand Valley's most at-risk and vulnerable populations including individuals in the correctional setting, Heather is well-versed in delivering on-site and on-time delivery of care with individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental health crises, and co-occuring physical health conditions.
