Upon the completion of competency evaluations and when judges find individuals "incompetent to proceed" or ITP, education is ordered to attempt to restore the individual to ensure they are competent to stand trial in their own defense. For individuals deemed able to be restored in the outpatient setting, Outpatient Restoration Education (ORE) is utilized at no cost to the participant. The goal of ORE is to develop a clear understanding of court proceedings and the ability for defendants to participate in their defense.
What is Outpatient Restoration?
Outpatient Restoration is an education program that helps you learn and understand:
The court process
The roles of people involved in your court case
How to communicate with your attorney
Skills to assist you with making good decisions regarding your case
How you can best participate in your own defense
